Prevent Package Theft Tips from the Alexandria Police Dept.
- Encourage family and neighbors to pick up packages as soon as possible after they are delivered.
- Be neighborly. If you can't pick up your mail ask a neighbor to do it for you.
- Track your packages. Try to be present at the time of delivery. Many mail carriers allow you to track your shipment online.
- The U.S. Postal Service can also hold your mail if you travel during the holidays.
- If shipping through Amazon, use an Amazon locker instead of delivery to your home.
*Be aware of your surroundings, if you see something suspicious, call APD at 703.746.4444 or 9-1-1
Recycle Right – A little care helps us sort it out
Please take time to prepare your recyclables so that they can be effectively sorted. Boxes should be emptied and flattened; containers should be empty, clean, and dry; and all recyclables should be placed loosely in your cart or bin. Please, no plastic bags.
If you have any doubt about an item’s 'recyclability', please throw it away as trash. For more information visit: alexandriava.gov/Recycling
